for two farmers Lavergne
who saved the little Jacqueline Gourevitch

- "Alfred and Louise Marie Pierre Rey were farmers Lavergne place located four miles from Nègrepelisse. From June 1942 to spring 1945, they took under their protection the warm little Jacqueline Gourevitch. It was not more than three years when she was well put away the Holocaust thanks to Rey.

Pierre Alfred and Mary Louise claimed both of the Protestant religion . Their family had no fewer than four children in 1942:
- Alice, 21,
- Arlette, 20,
- Denis, 16 years and
- Maurice, 8.

Their generous hospitality, despite the dangers multiplied by the occupier and his collaborators, Rey offered first to a nephew who had the courage to escape from Germany. Jacqueline then, Jewish persecution, arrived at Lavergne. Integrated and immediately surrounded. Alice, eldest responsible to ensure her education and taught him to read and to write.

Region is not easy. The Germans searched the farm twice. The Jacqueline Rey posing for a cousin came to breathe the fresh air of the countryside ...

In spring 1945, the horrors of war away and the parents of Jacqueline Lavergne for coming to retrieve their child. It was then called her savior, "Dad Alfred" and the wife of the latter: "Mom Louise" ... "

Report of the ceremony by Albert Seifer, Delegate of the French Committee for Yad Vashem:

- "In the afternoon of 4 July 1530, we met in the town hall Nègrepelisse packed to attend the ceremony honoring as posthumous Peter Alfred and Marie Louise Rey who hid in their small farm Lavergne Jacqueline Gourevitch (future Mrs. Lerfel) then aged 3 years, from 1942 to 1945.
The couple Rey, Protestants simple and generous, had 4 children Alice 21 years, Arlene 20, 16 and Maurice Denis 8.

In his welcome address Mr Maurice Correcher, deputy mayor recalled with great emotion, how her aunt Josephine Correcher, Costa wife hid in a bread box girl Moulin de Moissac during a search of the Germans, and thus saved his life.

Then Dr. Albert Seifer regional delegate of the French Committee for Yad Vashem exposed to the Yad Vashem what assistance and recalled the famous letter of Bishop Jules Geraud Saliege archbishop of Toulouse on the human person which was read in all the churches of the diocese on Sunday 23 and 30 August 1942.

Albert Seifer highlighted the courageous action of Marie-Rose Geneste, serving archbishop Monsignor Theas of Montauban, which traveled 100 km per day on his bicycle, blue, exhibited at Yad Vashem, to circulate in all churches of the diocese of Bishop Theas the letter close to that of Bishop Saliège:
"Marie-Rose Geneste, Righteous Among the Nations is a very old and sick. I had the honor to congratulate her in December 1991 during the "Symposium on the internment camps in the Southwest of France," organized by the Rector Philippe Montauban Joutard . "

Mr Senator Collin made a fine speech emphasizing on the courage and humanity of the Rey family.

Mr Fabien Sudry, Prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne succeeded him whose speech was also very good that paid homage to the valiant Rey.

After thanking moved Maurice Rey, son of recipients, Jacqueline Gourevitch, Lerfel expressed his deep gratitude to this deserving family. "

- "What a great reward justly deserved by the family that I collected during three years.
During this dark period, where we had a visit from the Gestapo, I was blessed and I have nothing but good memories at the farm of Lavergne. I felt safe and I called them Alfred dad and mom Louise .
A big thank you to everyone without forgetting Denise and Arlette.
I wanted to have their names inscribed on the memorial Yad Vashem in Israel for their courage will forever be etched in my memory. "
